Are you ready? Class is in session.

202 - Human Capri Sun - Thirst (2009)

Welcome back to Fright School! Joe went to Vegas to support Jimmykins' bowling addiction! Joshua remains unconvinced Jimmy is not a serial killer ala DEXTER. Who LOVES to bowl?!?! Make it make sense! On the subject of activities for nerds- Joshua spent the weekend reading with friends. Trixie and Katya of DRAG RACE fame made their way to San Diego! Joe continues his Catholic colonization of the program with THIRST a film that was about as long as the Inquisition and, at least according to Joe, not even HALF as fun! We chat about the intersections of Catholicism, cannibalism, and vampirism. Mmmm... ism.

200 - New Habits for Everyone! - The Devils (1971)

"EBay is the poppers of commerce."

Welcome back to Fright School! Whuuut?! Why is Joe talking first?!?! More on that in a second....First we catch up on the week! Happy 200th Episode!!! Joshua saw MORBIUS and it was not an April Fool's Day prank after all! Joe has been hanging out with people again. We played Pinochle while serenading our beaus with selections from MOULIN ROUGE and almost the entirety of EVITA. Who needs a cast of 30 when you have us?! We're flipping the script for the next four weeks as Joe presents his first capstone project for Fright School! He's giving Joshua a cataclysmic lesson in Catholic catechism. What horrors await inside The Dark Box? What will we find lurking in the sacristy? What monstrous things will we uncover beneath the habits and vestments? Well, besides the nuns and priests, of course! We're kicking it off with Ken Russell's THE DEVILS! Joe teaches us about the hierarchies of the Roman Catholic Church, gives a little history lesson, and we discuss the sexually liberated woman and what hell she unleashes.

199 - The Ominous Realization of Her Own Mediocrity - The Strings (2020)

"You edge me and edge me and edge me for 90 minutes ... and you're not going to make me cum??"

Welcome back to Fright School! Joshua is having some kind of existential crisis. We're grateful for movies we've lost and found. Joshua and Joe talk graduation ceremonies. This week is the finale of our musicians in horror series, at least for now. We watched THE STRINGS! This odd little film had us discussing the nature of creativity, string theory, and loneliness and isolation. We're still not sure what it was about exactly...

198 - READ THE SYLLABUS - Rock 'N' Roll Nightmare (1987)

"Don't you DARE put this on that man!"

Welcome back to Fright School! We're commemorating the 2 year anniversary of the pandemic by honoring all the events we lost. We reiterate that capitalism sucks. We're discussing ROCK N ROLL NIGHTMARE. We should've taken it as a bad omen when Amazon stopped about ten minutes in to tell us that "something went wrong." Yeah, we know... we're watching the movie, too, Alexa. Maybe it's time to end Fright School and go get sensible jobs, like coke dealing? Joe pledges to always read the syllabus from now on.

195 - Ladies and Gentlemen, Foo FIGHters! (w/ James) - Studio 666 (2022)

"All their songs sound the same."

Welcome back to Fright School! This week we've invited the one and only Jimmykins to the Wes Craven Memorial Library to discuss STUDIO 666 (SPOILER ALERTS abound and CW/TW for discussions of suicide)! We're headed to the Renegade Film Festival THIS WEEK! It's finally here! James has been sashaying his way through the entire herstory of RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE. Joe schools us on Robert Johnson. Joshua insults the Foo Fighters because he's a misandrist. We dissect the happenings in STUDIO 666, wonder about Dave Grohl's horror fandom, and get deep discussing the death of Kurt Cobain. Rock on, Dear Listener!

194 - Call Canadian OSHA! - My Bloody Valentine (1981)

Happy Valentine's Day Fright School! We've been cooking this week! Joshua doesn't know shit about football... still. Joe is rewatching THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL in anticipation of the fourth season FINALLY coming this week. Joshua is excited about Screambox streaming FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES (check out our friend Brennan's podcast miniseries WELCOME TO PRIMETIME for a deep dive into this bizarre artifact of the late 80s)! Netflix releases the latest TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE film this week as well. Are we really making "requel" a thing? This week we are once again exacerbating our claustrophobia with MY BLOODY VALENTINE. We try to make sense of this strange Canadian tale of the consequences of workplace safety violations. We also share childhood Valentine's Day memories.
